This is Sweetwater’s fourth season operating a work and travel program for international
students. We enjoy giving these students a once in a lifetime opportunity. You MUST
meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for employment:
- You must be able to speak fluent English
- You must possess excellent swimming skills and be certified as a lifeguard or willing
to become certified (there is a cost to become certified).
- You must possess either a J1 or H2B Visa
- You must be available to work from May 2009-September 2009 with the understanding
that travel comes second to the lifeguarding job.
- You must be willing to work hard and complete all the required job duties to the
best of your ability.

Job Description
Lifeguard:
- You are responsible for the safety of all the patrons at the pool. You must sit
in the lifeguard stand and watch the water to prevent injuries and be able to perform
proper safety techniques in the event of an emergency.
- You are responsible for checking water chemistry and reporting problems with the
pool immediately so the proper corrections can be made.
- You are responsible for keeping the pool clean. This includes straightening furniture,
picking up trash and toys around the pool deck, emptying all trash cans around the
pool, cleaning and stocking bathrooms.
- You are responsible for having a friendly attitude toward members of the pool and
treating all members with the utmost respect. You must be able to communicate with
patrons and answer any questions they may have.

Pay
|
Pay will be discussed during one of your phone interviews. You will be guaranteed
40 hours per week up to September 1st so long as you are completing the job to Sweetwater’s
satisfaction. If you are not performing your job duties properly, Sweetwater reserves
the right to cut your weekly hours.
*After September 1st the pool hours are cut back so you will still receive between
15-20 hours per week lifeguarding, or you my work with the closing crew to help
close down the pools in order to receive more hours.
